Replacement Slings by American Slings
Despite the love we have for our outdoor furniture sooner or later their slings breakdown. During this time a lot of owners debate whether to order replacement slings or just buy new furniture. But while choosing between the two options seems quite simple enough, there are really several factors to consider so that you make the most out of your money.
First look at the quality of the frame. If you bought your furniture from specialty shops that offer quality products then it is advisable to get replacement slings.
Furniture from Woodward or Lloyd Flanders can cost between a hundred to about two hundred dollars but they offer excellent quality frames that often last longer and resist rusting. Once their slings give in after three or four years, you can have replacement slings for less than fifty dollars.
With a little effort and little expenditure, your trusted and comfortable furniture will be good as new.
But these days, countries like China mass produce furniture that is often cheaper but not always of superior quality. Their frames and slings are often less durable than the ones manufactured State-side. Once they give in, assess first the state the furniture is in. If they seem sturdy enough then order replacement slings to save on costs. However if you feel that the frames themselves won’t last very long then you might be better off getting new furniture instead of ordering replacement slings.
While it does seem thriftier to buy cheap furniture at first, in the long run the frames will break and you’ll have to throw them out. Getting quality furniture on the other hand means that all you’ll need to do is get replacement slings and parts for very affordable prices in the future. Needless to say purchasing quality furniture is not only a wise investment in the long run, it helps minimize producing trash because of cheap, breakable furniture.
Availability of replacement parts is also an issue. Many unscrupulous businessmen make furniture that is not designed to be repaired or refurbished. This means they do not have replacement slings or parts or you may not have the straps or cushions to make repairs. Either way, you’ll have no choice but to buy more furniture when this cheap furniture shows signs of disrepair.
Some furniture may be too old that frames are unstable even though they were of great quality. Getting replacement slings might not be enough and you may have to replace the entire furniture. Don’t risk injury by insisting on reusing a badly rusted or cracked frame. Get a new quality one and refurbish it when the slings start to fray.
